I don't know how this happened but I posted that comment cuz someone made a comment about this being "stupid southern bullshit ridin on the coattails of hatred and bigotry" or somethin to that effect. I know he's from KY, I'm from TN, but this sound was from the Bakersfield revival of the 80's and Buck Owens and such from California. It's Western music, not country, Elvis was born in Mississippi but he wasn't country. I didn't mean to mislead I'm just sayin Dwight got popular in Cali.

umm...this IS from the West Coast...not down South...so your entire argument is moot....this music is from the Billy Rock/Western Music Revival of the 80's from Bakersfield, CA...so yeah, this is West Coast as hell homes.

linglingo is right, if you think this is just southern country you need to educate yourself. Buck Owens was a major influence to Dwight Yoakam's sound, and Buck Owens was a pioneer to the that smooth Bakersfield rockabilly type movement. Still makes me smile to hear it.
