Guys, you are great. Just a constructive thought. Why not let the banjo do chops (well sort of) when the mandolin is taking the lead? Seemed too busy. This is suggested in the kindest of ways. Okay? When I listen to Quick Silver I hear the banjo lay back and play simple chops to let the mandolin ring through.

Now that would be fine with me. I'm the mandolin picker!!! You must be too. Thanks for your comment.

That's some good bluegrass. I play bass and mandolin, and have always wanted to be in a bluegrass band.

Banjos are simply the loudest instrument in a bluegrass format. Not much you can do about it really. It's the guitarists that usually get drowned out the most. A good band knows how to let the person taking the ride rise and shine by backing off or "muting" thier rythym volume a bit.
