I think this race got Ben onto them actually

that's a great race. I was there that day to see the whole field finish within 2 metres of each other, my favourite Paul Narracott mssing out on Bronze by several thousandths of a second.
Great days indeed!

@leemeires Alan Wells is a Scot, not English at all.

wells got away well

Alan Wells spent alot of time working out and building muscle as well. So has Usain Bolt. It's strange how it helps some athletes but some like Lewis-Francis don't benefit. Seems like the ones that are naturally pretty big don't benefit as much.

Sorry i haven't read any of the comments posted! - I just remember Allen Wells [the first sprinter to wear cycling shorts] beating Carl Lewis at an athletics meet post the L A Olympics...Lewis looked really shocked by this old [Brilliant Scott's athlete] beating him!!!!...Ha ha!!!

I agree with you that Mr Lewis Francis is a man who is blessed with a great deal of natural talent as a sprinter, and that he had the potential to run the 100 metres in under 9.90 secs. Sadly, however, it now seems unlikely that he will ever improve on his

@TheSpeedyDude [Continuing on from my previous 'post' about Mark Lewis Francis]: STRENGTH AND POWER ARE NOT THE BE-ALL AND END-ALL FOR A SPRINTER. Sprinting may be an explosive event, which requires a reasonably high degree of strength and power ...... but the fact remains that it is a very different activity from weightlifting or shot putting.
I cannot help feeling that, in the last ten years or so, Mr Lewis Francis has spent too much time concentrating on building up his muscles and

@plums61 Good way to start a war! And Christie was born in Jamaica......so the last great "English" sprinter....ummm...Peter Radford....Harold Abrahams!!? Bit thin on the ground. Perhaps Mark Lewis Francis will surprise us all,but I won't hold my breath....
