I followed your example then used a calculator to check, and the calculator gave me a different answer. 2 2/3 x 1 1/4 following your method gave me 4, but a calculator gave me 3 1/3.

Thank you so much. 5th grade math, and just at the beginning of the year, the teachers dumped this stuff on us.... now we have a big project on fractions and decimals, and I forgot how to do these types of problems... Thank You northstar!!!

I'm confused, I've seen this done your way, then I've also seen this done, where the whole numerator is instead multiplied by the numerator, then divided by the denominator!!
