What do you think happens now when those who pay good money for premium program are denied care and have to pay huge extra costs because the insurance comompanies figure you can't afford an attorney to defend you so go pound sand for the care you need.
And If you don't want ON the national system, you can keep your private coverage, except that coverage will be cheaper as private companies have incentive to provide better care then the gov. can.
We already wait weeks/months for treatment. For-profit insurance companies have millions of reasons NOT to pay for treating the sky-high bills to treat a serious, life-threatening illness, all of them dollars. Say what you will about the gov, their bottom line won't depend on saying "no" to you.
If this bill passes, we'll probably have to wait weeks/months if we get hurt. The government will have the power to decide which doctors we see, if any at all, and if we end up skipping those appointments, we might end up being taxed $1,000 a year. I know this is an Olbermann video, and so I will get flamed or outed as a republican or CT, but whatever.
This multi-trillion (several million million for the mathematically challenged) dollar bill WON'T work, ESPECIALLY in the face of a recession.
