DVD Excerpt: Ernesto: A few years ago, I got picked on a lot because my parents have an accent, because of my name, Ernesto, and because of my culture. I dealt with it in a negative way, mostly by fighting back. I thought I was the only one getting picked on. Now I know it happens to a lot of guys, and it hurts.

Judd: One day the teasing got so bad it felt like you know I was being teased about something different by someone else every ten minutes, and I came home, got off the bus and literally ran home and my dad was standing at the door. And he kind of said to me, he said I went through the same things you did, and I know where you're coming from and the one thing you need to know is that, they, the people that are teasing you just want to get higher on the social ladder and that they're doing it for their own good and that, I listened to him say that and I kind of thought to myself, hey he may be right.

Wilson: I used to go around the neighborhood being the biggest, toughest, you know, kid on the playground. Being able to talk things out rather that hitting somebody and starting a huge war over it, you know, is just a great feeling.

Narrator: Most people thought Jim had everything going for him. On the outside, it looked that way. But on the inside, Jim felt lonely any isolated because a group of guys he wanted to be friends with was rejecting him. Having the courage to be yourself is what really counts. One thing that helped Jim do that was a strong inner faith. And a message that he now tries to give younger kids is to stand up for what you believe.

Jim: And I always tell them you can always come to me. I say if you feel hurt inside, you're not alone in the world, you can find somebody that relates to you cause you're not the only one going through this there are other kids out there that are like you and that will be friends with you. You don't have to be alone.

Orondé: It was like I just hit a wall, a wall of rejection. It was like no matter what I did, I was just unaccepted in that school. I didn't find any friendship among my teachers, it was like they didn't even like me.

Narrator: Oronde believes that he's alive today, and on the right path, because his family never gives up, and because he has the courage to let them in.

Orondé: They've given me the most clear cut advice. It wasn't put a bottle to your lips, here smoke this just to forget about things. It was, deal with them. Here's we giving you the facts, we giving you the tools and we giving you all the abilities you need to handle this and we are going to support you.
