Watch me perform a frequency test on a recently acquired Rockford Fosgate AUDIOphile mid, the RFA-54 (circa 1994-1995). I used an app on my iPhone called "Tone Gen Pro" to sweep frequencies from 2Hz up to 200Hz. The RFA-54 was temporarily mounted in a cardboard box for the test and was powered by 1 channel of a Lepai LP-2020A+ mini amp. After I performed a test to verify the speakers using music, I tested the frequency range using the ToneGenPro app on my iPhone and was amazed at how this little speaker moved and shaked so I thought you guys might like to see it in action!

  • Very nice, did you get around benching the RF 500M? Keeep them videos comin' they're great!

  • @subbinblazer I working on another project right now, but haven't forgot! Just wish I had more time to do all of this testing and videos...

  • It would be nice to see an "in bigdwiz's opinion" comparing these to your Boston's or other mids. This type of thing - brightness of mids, good for forward sounding setup or neutral sounding plus the type of music genre that would match this type of speaker.

  • @PRIMEM0VA Great idea! I'm gonna use the Audiophile 4" components soon, so I should be able to compare them to the Boston 4.4's...

  • Wish speakers were still built to that standard.

  • @HectorsCarAudio1 You and me both, man! Thanks for watching and commenting

  • When I find the time and motivation, I'll make a video to show you my little collection of car audio. I've always been a music freak but never was big on car audio. The bug got to me about a year ago and I'm collecting some items as I can afford (most of my money goes into car work so not much left for these). I'm also more into SQ hence all the subs save for 1 being 8". Very small collection but a few cool bits. Peace

  • Hey thanks for all the videos. I've been following them quite religiously since I first happened to stumble upon them. I recently bought a boston acoustics set with 6x9 subs, 4" mids and big ass tweeters but I can't find any specs for them. I'd like to build custom boxes for a home setup. Too precious to be in a car. The subs model 890LF with the "SUBX" x-over, then 840MR mids with the 893X x-over, and finally tweeters "Varimount II", no number on them. Any idea where I can get such specs?

  • That little guy has quite a bit of throw! Also that tone generator is pretty damn cool. Need one for my iphone now :)

  • Nothing cooler than watching a speaker or sub play 1 through 10 hertz! Especially 1 cycle.

Great video Wiz, looking forward to more soon.

  • nice!!!

  • I have a similar set of these in 4" I got about 15 years ago except with the halfler brand on them. I've never seen any similar RF/haflers untill now. Thanks for the vid
