ok i'm confused sheep head in the great lake are what we call drum in missouri because of the sound they make. but it looks like your fishing in salt water for sheep head are they all the same fish or a different species?

I smash the barbs down.They will almost always dehook themselves..

@allen3200 yep they send out guys that don't know how to fish and just because they can't get a hook into anything they think there's no fish and need to tighten the fishing laws!i live in florida and commercial fished most of my young life till they just ran me out with their laws and not helping keep sports out of my traps!it sucks when you pull up a trap and a sport fisher has stomped it flat because he was fishing to close to it and hooked the line.

it's great how them Sheephead will spit a barbless,ain't it!!! My first love,will always be commercial fishing.No matter how many thousands of fish i catch,EVERY nibble and hookset,to me,still feels like the first one.
I guess when a feller looses that feeling, his fishing days are through...Keep fightin the good fight pard. Jeff
