This is the deep, down, dirty, crusty blues. Images of rainwashed cotton fields, humid heat sticking to my sunburned skin come flooding back to me through the whirlwinds of time....This is the music of the south, my friends. It doesn't get more passionate than this .

She must be fairly talented, she sure as hell didn't achieve fame through her look.

Elmore James died 50 years ago today, May 24, 1963, and didn't get to benefit from the Fifties and Sixties nostalgia waves. But he influenced Lennon, Clapton, Hendrix, Garcia, Zappa, Fogerty, Duane Allman, Billy Gibbons of ZZ Top, and both Vaughan brothers. Think of all the guys THOSE guys have influenced, and you know Elmore is a foundation stone of rock and roll.

Fantastic! Josh Nixon has put it all in words far more eloquently than I could, so just - like me - get lost in this sublime talent.

Actually this song was written and recorded by the famous mississippi bluesman Robert Johnson in 1936, long before Elmore added his unique slide guitar style (which he learned growing up in Mississippi).

WRONG!!!!!!!! This song was written by Robert Johnson, Elmore James added the slide to it and made it his signature song.

This is one thing I love of this music, most of people who listen to the blues or jazz also play any instrument and understand about music!! . This is a very kick-ass song! Elmore james had very heavy rhythms!
