My Uncle Bill was a United States Marine, went over at age 17 to join. Back then you could get into the states by joining the military. He was in a lot of battles in the Pacific.

Sure miss when he would stop for tea, nearly everyday. Kind, unassuming man although even as a kid I could tell he'd seen his hell on earth. Happy he came home to Ireland and found some peace in his life.

my uncle who fought in Korea as a Marine told me before his death in 2005, that the actual numbers of killed in action on "Iwo" were not fully disclosed, mainly because it would have brought down the moral of the American people, I did go on to serve as a Marine, mostly during a time of peace between 78-86, i"ve know the Beruit vets who did the best they could have done, as well as others,I'll always miss the Corps, i always drink a beer to our Corps on 10 November, I'll continue that tradition
