don't know what brand this is but the one I bought didn't work..it took forever to boot for the system to even recognize it and then software wouldn't see it

I have the same one, but it doesn't work. Hooked it up the same way as you, the lights on the adapter turn on, the hard drive spins, but my system will not recognise the hard drive.
From what i've seen, a lot of people have had problems with these cheap adapters not working. So annoying. Wasted so much time trying to solve the problem. Will have to buy a different one.
