First few minutes of the short-lived Canadian version, ends just after 1st deal, but does offer a good look @ the fake "LMaD Money" they used here. :-)

  • Where on Earth did you find this clean copy? I haven't seen this version since 1983 when KICU San Jose was rerunning it. What a treasure! I wish I could find the theme music.

  • @rsb97060 - It was on a DVD I recieved a coupla years back.

  • Didn't this air in the US as well? I seem to recall hearing it did, as least briefly.

  • @JAldridge86 - It did, indeed...only lasted the one season here, but continued to play in reruns north of the border on Global for the next few years (though a few stations here in the US did rerun this version for a spell, including WOR/9 in NY-NJ).

  • IIRC this aired in Seattle and I think Detroit and Atlanta as well during it's run in the US.

  • @Nickle98499 - Yeah, it got nationwide clearances, from what I understand.

  • Did she win a trio of trash cans as their "ZONK" prize??

  • @oaklandfan2k9 Yeah....that's what they did with the fake dollars.

  • If i were Hatos-Hall when the show is in Canada, replace the Fake LMAD Money (with Monty's Portrait in it except for the $500 bill), For Scenes of Canada Banknotes which is used from 1969-1979 and the $1,000 bill will be from the 1954 series with Queen Elizabeth II on the Obverse, after the show they should keep the Canadian Bills or change it for USA Bills.

  • Canadian currency facts: The $500 bill was exclusive to the 1935 series of Canadian banknotes. The $1000 bill ceased printing in the year 2000.

  • And when LMAD returned in 1984, I wonder if any stations ran it back-to-back with the 1980 version. I could imagine the promos: "More deals, more Monty, more Zonks!"

  • Yes... Monty used to say that the contestants could redeem it in the currency of their choice. I assume that meant either the Canadian or the U.S. dollar.

  • Is the reason the "LMaD Money" was used due to the show airing in Canada & the US?
