Pastor Samurai Kappei - Part 1 (2005) Subtitles Available

This animation is my university project from AIU in Weston, FL. When the semester came, there were two specific classes that were required for seniors (Note: every class is approximately 5 hours long, for ten weeks. After the ten weeks, comes the week off of school).
First was the Senior Design Project: a class that requires your chosen principle during your years at the university. For example, if your field is photography, which was taught to you in the university, or, be it in high school, then you choose it as your concrete project.
Secondly, the Final Portfolio: which was the continuation of the Senior Design Project, except the professor can give you at least three weeks to finish your work. Then after your done, you basically have to print it at a larger scale thats enough to fit in your portfolio (Note: portfolio required in class). After youve done filling up your portfolio with your work (20 pages maximum; no more, no less), when it comes to Week #9 (which was close to Christmastime), comes the final presentation of the year. This class allows us students to build upon our acquired skills and offer a means of representing our credentials to potential employers.


My main credential was the animation field. I have recently prepared a sneak preview, roughly 16 minutes length, for an animated feature that Im PRAYING someone will manufacture. Entitled, Pastor Samurai Kappei. Two movies, The Last Samurai, and The Passion of the Christ inspired me to create a story such as this.
It basically tells a tale of a pastor named Seung Joo Kap (who was not Japanese), Kappei for short, who basically has a desire to educate the people of Japan on The Gospel. However, someone else with a different point of view was plotting to overthrow the government before that ever happens, i.e., Shinigami (God of Death). Now Kappei has to stop him from causing death and destruction to anywhere and anyone at his sight. For a reason is to why, Kappei doesnt know, but he knows hes not going to get anywhere by himself. Basically, there will be a few more people involved in the mix. One of them was Tsubaru, a former ninja assassin who has held a stern grudge against Shinigami for massacring his enduring ninja clan, Martha Jane, a lieutenant, the legendary female gunslinger from Deadwood, well-known as, Calamity Jane, and who claims to be his long-lost sister, and lastly, Minami Naomi, Japans celebrated performance artist, an honorary Geisha, the spoiled little rich girl of the Meiji Era and Kappeis impending spouse, depending on her infatuated persistence (she calls him Kappei-chan, to make him look cute, even though she's younger than him ^_^).

I started showing this at the presentation. My mom, and my brother-in-law were there as well. At the end of the credits when my name showed up, the whole room was blissfully boisterous. So I did what I could do for my part. I started crying. As if I had won an Oscar. Not only that, Mr. Russell, the dean of the university, was in tears as well as the other professors especially Mr. Russell! The DEAN of the UNIVERSITY! So, with that being said, my final grades for both classes were a whopping A.
