This is the third part of my series documentation of my trip to "WWII Weekend" at Reading Regional Airport, PA.

This Iwo Jima reinactment following words from Red is edited with inspiration from the HBO program "Band of Brothers" after shooting as a spectator. Most impressive is the complete land and air support involved.

As I am passionate and appreciative of the incredible history surrounding World War II, and especially our veterans, I must also say the people that put this event together did a tremendous job.

These are the waning days that we have a chance to meet and thank guys in person like "Red", one of the original "Band of Brothers" that bravely invaded Fortress Europe on DDay.

Best viewed with a decent sound system!
Move Out!

  • I hate these reenactments. It isn't done for the sake of history, it is done so pretenders can play war for the weekend. If you want to know about Iwo Jima, ask a veteran. My grandfather was there and the things he witnessed would give you "GI Joes" nightmares. You would have to double up your Xanax.

  • Friend: my still living grandfather-in-law Island hopped and I'm preparing a video for a deceased Mustang Ace which includes an interview with a still-living Ace from the European theater. Just let the enthusiasts share this great history - this video is just documenting this popular event which includes realities such as uniforms, weapons, vets you can converse with.... anyway this isn't some backyard shoot. Take Care - appreciate your passion.

I re-enact as a jap, we do this stuff for the public. My grandfather served in B25s during the second world war. We don't think we're soldiers, we do it for fun and we play the bad guys so that the American Marines have someone to fight. Of course its nothing like combat, but we don't act like it is. We aren't GI joes or shit like that, we do it for fun and to show the public what our gear was like. Hell if we get just one kid interested in WWII, we've done our job.

  • COOL!!! But at the end I thought they should of raised the U.S. flag on the "prop hill" thing. :D

  • SWEET!
