To say anything negative about such a performance is sacrilege, but here goes: she set the standard so high in her better years, it's painful for me to listen to this-- in places. Her phenomenal capacity to always hit the high notes with such total security and force was totally unique to her, but here, inspite of the dramatic intensity, the many other glories of her voice, this is not the Nilsson I saw in the opera houses. Please do not judge the Nilsson at her peak by this performance.

I saw Tristan with Nilsson in 1971, and since then I never wanted to see that opera (one of my favourites) again. I prefer to remain with that Isolde for ever.

From a biological point of view Ms. Nilsson is about 10 years younger than her actual age. And still the voice sounds even younger than that. That is so interesting!
