Orejuana, Chris V and Karim are back with another extended minimal techno jam session. We changed the setup considerably, opting to mix tracks, loops, vocal samples, keys and original beat production exclusively with Ableton Live running on two computers. We kept the sound deep, rolling and sparse, leaving space for Karim's introspective, penetrating keys and Chris' crispy, well crafted beats. Karim really shines in this session with delicate, silky smooth melody and nimble finger work, balancing the Mircokorg and SL61 MK2. I used Ableton Live to mix tracks for the first time, which enabled me to better concentrate on the mix. I layered the mix with vocal samples collected from 'The Mayfair Set', by Adam Curtis, 'Let's Make Money', by Erwin Wagenhofer and 'Life Inc. The Movie', by Douglas Rushkoff.
The mix is four parts so fire up a quicklist. Feedback is appreciated.
Track 1: Pit Spector - Repeat
Track 2: Pit Spector - Miri
How did u find mixing with ableton? easy? Great stuff by the way as always guys. Layed back and funky. More!

Playing tracks in Ableton is quite easy. Once you 'warp' the tracks you simply hit the 'play' button. In terms of mixing, I use the channels, EQ and effects on the mixer. I am not entirely satisfied with the warping however. The tracks seem to drift, albeit minutely, even after manually inserting warp markers. I think that's mostly due to running Ableton on two computers and manually locking them. We'll try to sync them with midi next time.
