  • Although they are quite pretty. And I wouldn't dream of killing one. But I'm on the tarantula side of the argument, I guess. I'm biased. They paralyze the tarantula, lay a single egg on it's abdomen, and when the larva hatches, it feeds on the still-living tarantula. The crazy part is, they instinctively know to avoid vital organs, and thus keep their host alive as long as possible. Bored yet? I thought so. No wonder I'm single......

  • Tarantula Hawk, (Spider Wasp) Pepsis thisbe. Family: Pompilidae. Order: Hymenoptera. Suborder: Apocrita. See all this useless information I have that makes me no money? If you're allergic to bee stings, steer clear of those mean bastards. They're agressive as all hell, and don't require any provocation at all, or next to none. I got nailed by one when I was 17. I stepped on it, barefooted. My foot swelled up like a balloon, and I'm not allergic at all. Any wasp with red wings is a firebrand.
