because it's risky. They can be killed easily if something goes wrong and for a species thats known for having chronic molting problems, it's not worth the risk. Too much calcium (if you feed them mice strictly) can impede their molt possibly resulting in premature death.

Because it poses tremendous risk to the spider. One bite/scratch from the mouse as it attacks can fatally wound the spider. Mice are bad diet choice since they're far too rich in calcium and its not needed for invertebrates. Calcium stores in their exoskeleton in which they need to break open when they molt out. If you keep feeding mice too often, the exoskeleton becomes rock hard and they can't molt properly and can die as a result.

@Lozzaviolin they won't eat dead food as there eyesight isn't very good so they hunt using vibration so the food has to be moving for it to know its there

"I hate spiders...I love rodentssss"
"I kill spiders"
definitely the words of an educated, rational person who's NOT AT ALL an imbecile...
rodents eat your food, chew through clothes in your closets, shit everywhere and spread disease
spiders eat pests and hang out....occasionally biting you if you provoke it for long periods of time
I'll take a spider in my room over a rodent any day
