Keep in mind that Medicare is not free health care. Every member pays premiums, and very high co-pays. A simple Emergency Room visit cost some one on Medicare $300 to $500 if the problem is minor. That is their out of pocket expense.
No Dental. No Prescription without additional insurance. You can go bankrupt on the prescription costs alone. No eye care. This is actually a pretty poor health plan, but it is better than no health plan at all.

A very good option, it makes perfect sense. It is like paying tax but you have a say where you want your tax money to go, and it is optional, which is great. You still might want to have insurance, but that is your choose.
Now all we need to do now is get rid of the taxation system and you will have a perfect solution.

@chenalos Meanwhile the United States of America which owes more than $13 trillion spends more money which it doesn't have on it's military than ALL OF THE REST OF THE WORLDS NATIONS COMBINED. I won't lie when I say I FUCKING HATE THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA. I really, really do......

I was really excited for this, and THEN I find out the GOP is fighting to Privatize medicare. So if they succeed there is no public option whatsoever. Motherfuckers.

@tikidog101 I know, so horrible. Americans really are as stupid as the rest of the world thinks they are. It's going to suck when the dollar is replaced as the international currency. American has ceased to be great, and most likely will never recover.

It wouldn't happen with that attitude no, most Americans are clueless on what they're missing with single-pay. If you're talking an actual vote of the people, it would pass overwhelmingly, I'd say at least 70%, but if you're referring to a congressional vote, none of the republicans would vote yes, about half of the democrats would vote no being they're indebted to the corporate world as are the republicans. As for thousands of private jobs being lost, what's new? Our health is not a business!
