They still use the same kind of plane on that flight and they changed the name of the flight to 446!

Ah, you'll notice I chose my words carefully: "Planes fly in AND through..." :P

@HugelyBig Actually, climatologists have pointed out that the thunderclouds in that particular region of the Atlantic can extend to 55 000ft above sea level! This could have been a factor because the storms are extremely strong and other planes flying through that area frequently have difficulty- there have been a few other close calls as well... this was however most likely not the reason why tho.

More chanceto crash in a car, than have a accident while flying

The A330 is really safe... It maintance cost but even still people manage to screw up the maintanance. It's probably a combination of wheather and a maintance fault. Airbusses rarely do have design faults. I've never heard of one.

too bad they couldn't find the black box...

All good ideas sound stupid to common people.
How about ejection seats?
-
you could be correct there was a boms threat to the airline. just like panam. dont hate just segregate.
-
yea, me too.. 3 monthes ago, from Brazil to Paris, with Air France, on A330..

Aquelas pessoas que acreditaram que iriam chegar a seu lugar de destino...
Probably because they were thousands of feet above it and weren't being affected by it. Planes fly in and through storms every single day and come out perfectly fine. A storm wouldn't have brought the plane down.
