It's unfortunate that the lives of these Troopers who were killed in situations other than giving tickets (as you say) are being disrespected. Please keep the comments respectful.

Blame the politicians for that. Police enforce the law, they don't write laws. The control freaks are the ones wearing suits, sitting in their leather chairs in their offices pretending to be important while the police are outside beating the pavement, doing the best they can to keep the community as safe as possible, all the while half the people in the community they swear to protect have no respect for the men and women who risk their lives each day to protect them.

You were a great man, a great friend, and an amazing trooper.

My family and I went by your memorial site a few weeks ago, just to pay our respects once more.

When i was out at the Sky way bridge and some one came up to me holding a knife and i told them you this is wrong night to being something stupid and he went back to his car shaken and then highway patrolman pulls up behinds me and runs into the bait house and im saying to him this guy came up to me with knife and he he was shaken , the trooper just ignored me. Im wandering was i being set up ?

@scarletstarr If your a trooper you should show more respect than telling someone to go home. That is racist and you should be singled and punished by fhp if they can find you. You dont act with honor and respect that you espouse.

No wonder California is broke. If they're paying CHP that much per officer then I can imagine what they pay higher positions and even other state divisions. Holy moly.

I will say there are a few renegade law men . I have a lot of friends in law enforcement . my motto ; A GOOD LAW ENFORCEMENT OFFICER IS WORTH THEIR WEIGHT IN GOLD ; A BAD ONE IS NOT WORTH WASTING A BULLET ON . JUST LIKE AN AVERAGE PERSON . I have lots of respect for them till proven different !

Some of my family knew him and his son is good friends with my cousin's. Infact I just saw his son on thanksgiving day. It's horrible the way he died.
