I think Noel is trying to say that believing in "any God" is not going to fix the problems you have in your own life. You have to get up off your ass and do something about it.

@JLorz84 I don't get the religious vibe as much as a theme of undefined and universally applicable spirituality that goes beyond the boring and predictable god shite that so many musicians get sucked up in.
This song is if anything about how all the religious pansies are just small minded fools and looking in the wrong places for whatever they want.
