@KnowUrSoul Jack Joseph Puig is talking more about this principle of using compressor in a way to enhance the transients. Also Bruce Swedien seems to love them and tries not to use that much compression. Just look it up. Informative stuff.
@KMillionTV: I'm wondering about this too. I love the idea in this video here, and Graham never ceases to deliver great stuff, but I'm wondering if there is a way that this could be more automated, while still achieving the same overall effect. Would love to hear from Graham on this...
I really really like Graham's videos, they are all always very useful, ive just began mixing and mastering my own music 'properly' and these tips are just brilliant for helping my music sound better! i cant thank you enough Graham!
I always find myself wanting to hear the rest of the song you're mixing. Would you ever consider posting song info or links to streams? That'd be awesome, man!
Also, to add to the discussion, while a transient designer or compressor can emphasize a track's attack, I really don't think that's the overall idea. This is really to place emphasis on different phrases or sections to make the listener aware of the track. You wouldn't necessarily want to emphasize each note.
Bob Katz talks about the attack principle in his book Mastering Audio: The Art and Science but didn't fully explain a solid technique to use it to great effect. This is a great tip. Thanks Graham.
Such a fantastic tip!

@Smurf431 true...but i guess it's like cleaning a vocal/recording through noise gates or doing it manually...it's a matter of taste
