David Essex - Rock On

Hey did ya rock and roll
Rock on, ooh, my soul
Hey did ya boogey too, did ya

Hey shout, summertime blues
Jump up and down in my blue suede shoes
Hey did ya rock and roll, rock on

And where do we go from here
Which is the way that's clear

Still looking for that blue jean, baby queen
Prettiest girl I ever seen
See her shake on the movie screen, Jimmy Dean
(James Dean)

[Instrumental Interlude]

And where do we go from here
Which is the way that's clear

Still looking for that blue jean, baby queen
Prettiest girl I ever seen
See her shake on the movie screen, Jimmy Dean
Jimmy Dean
Rock on
Rock on
Rock on

Hey, hey
Rock and roll
Rock on

Rock on
Hey, hey
Rock and roll
Rock on

Rock on
Hey, hey
Rock and roll
Rock on

Rock on
Hey, hey
Rock and roll
Rock on........

This was written for the movie That'll Be The Day, starring Ringo Starr... and David Essex. Ringo was a musician who sometimes acted. Essex was an actor who was sometimes a musician. It didn't make it on to the movie. (thanks, Brad Wind - Miami, FL)

The lyrics are a tribute to the early days of Rock 'n' Roll.

This was a US #1 hit for Michael Damian in 1989. Like David Essex, Damian was also an actor. He was on the soap opera The Young And The Restless.

Damian's version was used in the Corey Feldman movie Dream A Little Dream.

This was Essex' only hit in the US, but he had several more in England.

The trippy rhythm made this a popular drug song.

This is the opening song for the 2000 movie Sunset Strip. (thanks, Shari - Port Townsend, WA)

Def Leppard covered this song for their 2006 CD Yeah! The CD is a tribute to influential '60s and '70s Rock bands. (thanks, Adolfo - Mission, TX)

Hey, did you boogey, too? Did ya?

    and so on.

  • @MrarizonaTomm Thanks. We're cool.

  • @MrDrBalls my bad man, very immature on my part i should have seen this one coming.

  • The bass line in this song is phenomenal

  • I thought this was by Don Henley

  • @MrarizonaTomm You are late to the party... After I posted, the owner of this video update the lyrics herein. Whereupon he thanked me and I thanked him. It was all very cordial and community-like. Unlike your self-impotent, self-important outburst. Dumbass.
