I really love Caballé's voice, but this performance was terrible.

@MaCaCoGa Yes, but I still enjoy it! God Bless!

@montsyblackmadonna What a poor video quality and sound?

@KILLERADVICE Be quiet! This woman has sung everything from the heroines of Donizetti, Bellini, Verdi… Turandot… Wagner… the list goes on. Good grief… you try to sing this music.

La adoro, pero aquí se ve que está un poco enferma, no era muy buena época...Me encanta escucharla con esa edad cantando esto...

The color of the voice is still marvellous but her vocal skills are now not enough to face this aria : it is a strange rendition, very interesting on a technical aspect.

Montserrat Caballe the voice of the ages, this performance is very good considering the poor sound quality and picture, and the fact that she is way past her prime hear,
I am glad to tell those people who keep trying to pick this video to death,
she sounds 10 times better here than most of the singers in their 20s,30s, & 40s singing Pace Pace today.

She's far from her best here, taking her usual (by this time) liberties with the words (the first fatalità suffers the most), and unable to produce her heavenly pianissimi. However, as mentioned, this is La Caballé. In live performance, she is in top form in the performance at the Teatro del Liceo de Barcelona. January 31, 1979. In m view, that performance is better than the one in her commercial recording for RCA. I say, brava!

Awesome but not her best version of this aria in my view at least. She missed the pianissimo " in van la PAce). Can somebody load up her version sung in Carnegie Hall (mid 80's) conducted by Levine and done w/o orch. rehearsal. That one was simply perfect. I was told she came on the Concorde just for that PBS appearance, the MC was Sills.
