This is part 2 of my series of pictures I have collaberated of the devestating damage of the eF-5 tornado done to the towns of Parkersburg and New Hartford Iowa tornado.

The storm killed five people in Parkersburg and two people New Hartford, and over 50 people were injured. Over 220 homes have been destroyed, and at least another 200 have sustained serious damage, and over 20 businesses have been destroyed in a matter of minutes.

The mayor of Parkersburg said over a third of the town has been either severely damaged or completely distroyed.

The tornado was reported at over a half-mile wide at its base when it hit Parkersburg.

The music played in the background is "Humans Being" by Van Halen.
Much thanks for the pictures taken from Evan Eichmeier, Brittany Butler, Cassie Peters, and the facebook group "Prayers for Parkersburg"

  • Seeing these photos are in no way the same as actually driving thru this town a couple of weeks after it happened. It is a miracle that only very few died. I feel for these people.

  • as apocalyptic as part one.

  • it was flat.i live about 1-2 hours away and a guy that works for my dad, lives there and he told us his house was torn off the foundation.my teachers also went last sunday to help out and took pictures. it was like nothing was ever there, but had like stuff everywhere.its really horrible. and we heard a story where this guy went back to get his fone for later and completly got riped out of his house. And an old couple didnt make it because they where to old, and couldnt hurry into the basement.

  • im all the way down in davenport but i cry from this since a family member of mine was one of the ones that died

  • woohoo

  • I'm from Clinton, a little over three hours away from you. We had some bad storms that night, but nothing of the magnitude that you guys had to deal with. I wish I knew what more to say, but I don't :/ The pictures were intense though. Thanks for sharing, and I hope your guys' lives all get back to normal soon.
