  • how about the drivers. cant find any drivers to linux ubunto on asus website. ?

  • Xandros was fun but its security was atrocious so fuck it, I deleted it.

Then I installed ubuntu eee on an eee pc 900 and it ran hideously, unbearably slow with its netmix user interface.

So I disabled that and it ran at a good fast speed.

But it's not open source so fuck it.

Then I installed normal Ubuntu 8.10 (not another ubuntu eee or that easy peasy shit) and I'm happy with it.

    For now.

  • Wine works fine with ubuntu eee on my 901. I managed to install directX and Puzzle Quest so far, i'll keep trying more apps and games...

  • i am using ubuntueee now, and I really love it more than Xandros. In fact, I had to get ubuntueee, because Xandros crapped out on me after I installed a few updates. Either way nice vid, and I love this sleek OS.. I just need get compiz and wine to work and ill be joyous...

  • I installed Ubuntu E3, now Easy Pleazy, around a month ago, and despite a few problems, don't miss Xandros at all. The only trouble is Easy Pleazy will see whatever USB port it was installed from as a CD Drive.

According to Ramvi, and a lot of the packages I've installed lately, Ubuntu EEE is making great strides toward working on all netbooks, and I know it works on the MSI Wind.

  • i just installed ubuntu eee on my 900 and I miss xandros already. It was just much cooler. And faster.

but the software out there all seems to run better on ubuntu so whatever, I made my choice and I must live with it. :-P

  • sorry to bug you but would you know how to allow the use of any USB drives or MP3 players on the UBUNTU EEE

  • My Eee is the 900A which is pretty much exactly like your 900 but with no webcam and no bluetooth. I've had no problems with that OS so far on it and neither should you. Have fun!

  • thanks for the reply, appreciate it.

  • Yes it will. My Eee doesn't have a webcam, but Ubuntu Eee comes with a webcam program called "Cheese".
