It wasn't really a civil war, it was an invasion and coup by Italian Fascists, assisted by German Nazis who sided with Francisco Franco, who eventually became a military dictator for decades.
Stalin sent as much help as he could, but Fascism won in Spain. Franco did later anger Hitler by declaring neutrality during WWII, but many spanish fascists did serve in Hitler's army.
