  • Most of those girls must have been very dissappointed in later years. Only Ginger Rogers and Gloria Stuart achieved stardom.

  • Patricia Ellis and Mary Carlisle had moderate success, but their fame did not reach past the late 1930s

  • Holy smoke! That's Willy Pogany, one of my favorite "Golden Age" book illustrators. He did scads of paintings for books in the teens and twenties, many of which are now rare and very expensive. Later he taught and wrote art how-to books...I had heard he'd worked in Hollywood but I never dreamed he appeared in the talkies. Priceless video!

  • I love this video and I love Dorothy Layton!

thank you for the memories, it's priceless!

  • Wow,Boots Mallory was a very beautiful woman.

Boots [1913-1958]was first married to James Cagney's brother William and then to actor Herbert Marshall, with whom she was married till her death of a throat-infection in 1958.

Very strange that she never made it as a Hollywood-actress.

She actually never even made it to that! She came in second in the Panther Woman contest to another lady !!!

Lona Andre was a very smart woman. After her movie-career,she became a very successful business-woman

  • A great video and I can't thank you enough for sharing it with us. I am a huge fan of Evalyn Knapp and always love seeing her. Thanks again for sharing and take care.

  • lona andre is a very pretty one

  • Only Mary Carlisle remains now. Gloria Stuart died last year and Dorothy Layton in 2009.

  • @theshadow1932 I think he meant "profile." I was confused by his pronunciation, too. Never heard it said that way before.

  • I just saw Evalyn Knapp in Flight Hostess and she was so beautiful. Makes me wish I was born in 1906.

  • How beautiful Lona Andre is....

  • Now that I think about it, Lona Andre bears some resemblance to Myrna Loy.

  • "pro feels"?

  • I bet Toshia's Hollywood career ended the very next year with the start of WW2... tragic.

  • Excuse please!
