A demonstration of how a Solar Battery Monitor works. Two 80w panels. The battery bank holds 440 amp hrs. 1000w inverter. The lights in the vid are 14w florescent s which are equivalent to a 60w bulbs. The tv is a 21". So basically, the 14w lights pull 1amp each and the tv pulls 5 amps, and the inverter pulls .5 amp.

  • Can you double or even tripple the amount of golf car batterys and get more usage from them? And also I was wondering can you triple the number of panels you have up there to be able to charge at a rate of 30 amps or will this make problems of charging too fast?

what if you had 12 pannels would this help what Im getting at is I want to be able to run my refrigerater, washer and may be my air conditioner.

  • The more batteries you have, the more energy you can store. If you plan to install 12 pannels , you will want to make sure you purchase a charge controller that can handle that much juice without frying it. The one I have will take up to four 80 watt pannels. Any more than that and I will have to upgrade my charge controller. So, yes, you're on the right track.

  • awesome. how much for that setup and installation?

  • 80 watt solar panel = $475 each

Sky Blue 3 stage charge controller with mppt technology = $166

6 volt golf cart battery = $230 per set

    Tri Metric 2020 meter = $140

    500 amp shunt = $20

    1000 watt inverter = $75

    Disconnect box = $10

So after some wire and shipping it's pushing $1850. I know that buys allot of electricity, but for me it's not about saving money on my power bill. It's about becoming energy independent. Not being at the mercy of the grid = priceless. my other solar vid has more info

  • Keep up the good work....looks great

  • @fencekid you payed fucking $475 EACH!!!!! WOW DUDE YOU GOT RIPPED OFF BAD BRO

  • Nice video. I have been building a system myself. 115 watts so far. One of your previous videos helped inspire me to set it up. I am charging a laptop, cell phone, ebike, electric scouter, and sometimes running a TV with mine. Did you ditch the extension chord wiring in house for better indoor cable wiring?

  • Witch one is better the tri metric 2020

Or the digital display for my xantrex c35

  • Hey I have a 12v battery and based on what I've heard 6v golf cart batteries are the way to go I only have about 100 watts of solar but can I have 2 golf cart batteries 12v and 1 12v battery until the 12v dies then have only 6v batteries

  • Great set up Buddy I like that BlueSky solar boost MPPT

  • great vid im sold !

  • Nice choice on the charge controller, $166 with MPPT is a great deal. Gotta buy me one of those. Panel prices coming down almost every day - you can get 120 watt Chinese polycrystalline for what you paid for the 80 watters back then. I predict solar 'grid parity' by 2013.
