The Foundation for Eden Prairie Schools presented $29,000 in grants to teachers in the district Tuesday.

Barbara Astry, Lisa Birno, Karen Casey, Lori Ford, Sarah Kuiper and Michael Welsh were the primary applicants to receive funds, and they represent the High School, Eden Lake, Cedar Ridge, Prairie Veiw and Early Childhood Special Education.

The Foundation received $185,000 in grant applications from 26 applicants. The criteria for awarding grants included impact on student engagement and sustainability.

The grants are funded through donations and fundraising events like the The Taste of Eatin' Prairie, which is coming up Feb. 21 at the Minnesota Vikings Practice facility.

Registration for Spanish Preschool and Partners Preschool begins today for the 2009-2010 school year.

Spanish Preschool is for children ages 3-5. It's supposed to build a strong
foundation of Spanish speaking and listening skills. Spanish Preschool is held at Wooddale Church and there are a variety of scheduling options.

Partners Preschool is an inclusion program for preschool aged children with special needs. Classes are held at the Education Center and there are a variety of scheduling options.

A Minneapolis has been charged with stealing musical instruments from the International School of Minnesota and pawning them for cash.

Jeffery Lervik admitted to Eden Prairie police to stealing four instruments from the International School between Nov. 5 and Nov. 12 and pawning them, according to criminal complaint filed against Lervik in Hennepin County Court. He has been charged with felony theft.

The instruments are valued at nearly $3,000.

Tomorrow is the Family Center Festival. This free event is from 10 a.m until 12:30. There will be face painting and dancing and Disney characters. Awesome!

And Sunday the St. Olaf College Band is playing at the Performing Arts Center at Eden Prairie High School at 3 p.m. tickets are $8 for adults, $6 for seniors and $4 for students.
