Sean Flanagan Welcome Home Reception at The Ronald McDonald House of Long Island

The Ronald McDonald House of Long Island welcomed home Sean Flanagan from his six week cross-county bike ride which raised funds for the House.

The social worker from Sayville travelled over 3,500 miles from California to New Hyde Park sleeping in a tent along the way to maximize donations. During the course of his expedition Sean battled heavy rain, uncomfortable conditions and sixteen flat tires. You can view photos of Sean's journey at www.facebook.com/rmhli.

Sean's inspirational bike ride ended on the front lawn of RMH-LI where he was greeted by an impressive crowd of friends, family and supporters.

"I am happy to be home," said Sean Flanagan. "Hopefully, the families and children at The Ronald McDonald House of Long Island can see that anything is possible and don't let anyone tell you otherwise. If you have a goal, get it in your mind and go for it."

The Ronald McDonald House of Long Island is a 'home-away-from-home' for families who are caring for seriously ill children undergoing medical treatment in area hospitals. Located in New Hyde Park on the campus of the Steven and Alexandra Cohen Children's Medical Center of New York (formerly Schneider Children's Hospital), the House accommodates families in a warm and supportive environment. Since opening in 1986, approximately 14,000 families from the United States and more than 80 countries around the world have been served.
