If you're still having trouble with the detail lining you might want to try a trick they do for airplane cockpits: Mask off the entire part, or at least the area you're painting then carefully cut away the masking with a really sharp x-acto knife. Use a toothpick or something similar to make sure none of the masking peeled up then paint it like that. The only issue you might have in your case is if you aren't careful you'll wreck that black finish you did
