These videos were taken at the Port dock Station railway, or railroad museum near Adelaide South Australia. The year inadvertently entered in the title was 1994 but the actual year is 1992. The museum is now known as the National Railway Museum. The video starts with scenes featuring the miniature steam railway which runs around the main part of the museum. There are then shots of locomotives and rolling stock of three railway gauges; 5ft3in the main gauge of the South Australian rail system, the 3ft6in gauge of the South Australian Railways system of which two private railways also adopted, and the standard 4ft3-1/2in gauge of the initially named Commonwealth Railways of the Federal Government. Some diesel electric locomotives are also seen in this video. The video ends with a train ride around the museum hauled by the steam locomotive called Bub.

  • The locomotive "BUB" had a different whistle back then. The museum has changed a lot from when I did my train diary part 2.

  • @trainadelaide2000 The museum would have changed a lot since the video was taken. I must get back to see it again. Good to see things the way they were back then. Interestingly, the 523 and narrow gauge Y there, were used on the 'Steam to the Silver City' tour back in the 1960s. I was on the trip. A video taken from an 8mm film I took is posted at youtube's reidgck channel. On the way back, the 500 hit a car on a level crossing between Terowie and Burra. The car driver unfortunately died.
