man this exercise, like pull ups, has a hard learning curve... but man when you learn to do it properly you abs really BURN. if you're abs arent buring when doing leg raises then you aint doing it right :)
@Bergunthera defenetly, try doing them with your knees bent, obviously you abs arent yet strong enough to do the straight legged variation. anyways do them with your knees bent and really make sure your knees touch your chest, hold it for a second and really contract those abs, and then lower your legs, dont let them drop, lower them resisting gravity. thats how i started and when i started doing that i really felt my abs burn, leg raises are a great ab builder when done right
After i've done this, it's always my legs + hip flexors that hurt. How can i shift the focus from my leg muscles to my abs? Must be doing something wrong.
