This appears to be using the same engine as Realms of the Haunting, which isn't surprising seeing as Gremlin made it as well

This game was soooo awesome. The style of it remembered me always of Beavis and Butthead.

A virtual dos machine (VDM) will work well for most windows versions through XP (although depending on updates and service pack used there are some bugs with XP) It works well with windows 2000 and nearly flawlessly on the win 95/98. (unsurprisingly)
An open sourse program of such is VDMSound (there's an article on wikipedia too). Unfortunately Vista does not support VDM's so an emulator like DOSBOX is needed.

The footage of this game reminds me of the music video to the song "Money for Nothing".
Which in this case the rotten condition of that guy's house in the game could mean "money for nothing" for his objects in the house, hahaha!
Under a Killing Moon ... 1994 ... better gameplay, better graphics and 2 years before this.

@MrMilli I don't think so. Under a Killing Moon is a FMV game those "graphics" are just video files you can't move around freely in them. These are real-time graphics nothing like pre-rendered video. You can't compare FMV video games to this. That game is like 7th Guest, D or Mansion of Hidden Souls. Lots of CD-ROM games used video footage to move around. But how is that better gameplay than something you can actually fully move around anywhere? I do like those kind of games though.

@MN12BIRD No it's not FMV. :) The game is mainly played in first person view. It has a great 3D engine mixed with FMV in between. I can guarantee you that most of the game is real time since i own the complete Tex Murphy series. The 3D graphics are incredible compared to the likes of Doom. You can get the Tex Murphy games on GOG. The Tex Murphy games are very enjoyable and apparently the old crew got back together to make a new sequel.
