in my country the public broadcaster unveiled the fact that hokusai was influenced by a wooden sculptor to reach the work. theres a temple a room of which the sculptor made the great wooden wave art . the room was made in a japanese style and still has fusuma sliding doors. the room has a wooden partition board between the ceiling and the upper edges of fusuma doors for guiding the doors. the board has a size of right-left 100cm, height 50cm, width 10cm. the board expresses the great wave.

nice sense. long history has compelled the japanese to keep themselves at the distance from the picture. no one could ever have appreciated/dialogued with the picture.
