Attacking crowds of unarmed men and women isn't impressive nor honorable and much less is it a show of strength. Yes it did. The Spanish had defeated several Inca,Aztec, etc armies while outnumbered. The battle of Cajamarca is an example. 160 armoured cavalry and infantry defeated a larger force of 7000. The natives never had to deal with heavy cavalry and seemingly impenetrable armor. Although diseases did play an important part of softening them up overtime.

@leinad667 Horses, steel, powder and gospel was of no use in battling the Aztec Armies even while the Spanish had over 80,000 Tlaxcala and other native warriors on their side. I wasn't until smallpox broke out in an epidemic that lasted for over a year that the Aztecs were so severely decimated that in just 60 days after the outbreak they were weakened enough to be conquered by the Spanish and their allies. The diseases of the Spaniards killed over 40% of the Population of Tenochtitlan.
