This clip is from our series "35 most asked questions concerning Bible Prophecy". This clip answers the question: Why is Jesus' teaching in John 14:1-3 an analogy of a Jewish wedding which also infers a Pre-Tribulation rapture of the church?

  • tribulation and man of sin then jesus begins his descent and sends out his angels to gather us together.

Paul says falling away man of sin then the coming and the gathering..and as bible states the dead rise first then we which are alive meet them in the sky.

Show me a verse that states as bluntly as these that the gathering is before.

  • @rickcappetto

in the new testament we see his coming and the gathering in the same verse and context. And we are told that that day..his coming and our gathering cannot happen until the great falling away and that man of sin be revealed.

We try to pull the gathering out of that but even jesus puts it in that order in Mat 24..why should we think any differently?

  • @Myhopeisinhim Why try and separator the suffering and conquering messiah in the old testament? Because its easy to see, and so is the rapture and second coming.

  • we try to separate his coming from the gathering to try and make these verses fit a pre-trib doctrine but we can't do that...all timing of the gathering is shown in matthew and the fact that its during the last trumpet.

  • @orthelcid

verse 1 of 1 thess 2 speaks of the coming of Jesus and our gathering together unto him...how that day..the coming and our gathering cannot happen until the falling away and the man of sin is revealed.

This fits with what Jesus said in Matt, how certain things must come to pass then he will return and send his angels to gather his people.

  • I agree!!

  • @1979jdw No man knows the day or hour of the coming of the Son of Man (Mat. 24:36) but Jesus gave us the events to watch for that show His coming is near (v33). The critical event every believer should be ready for is the invasion of Jerusalem by the Antichrist in Mat. 24:15, the bride isn't taken up at His coming til v30!

  • Scripture defines the coming of the Son of Man on the last day (Mat. 24:30-31, 1 Thes 4:17, John 6:44) the day our Messiah physically returns to earth (Dan. 9:24, Rom 11:25-27, Rev 10:1-7), the day the Word of God appears at the supper of the great God, Armageddon, (Rev 19:11-21, Dan 12:11), and the day the Lamb of God will descend with His bride (Rev. 21:9-10, Dan. 12:12)

  • Though the Jewish wedding is beautiful, it is not the bases or foundation on which biblical theology should be built. Remember, the Jewish wedding is a tradition of men and should not be used to establish pre-trib theology. The authority of doctrine comes from scripture alone and not traditions.

  • Pre tribulation rapture is in 2011! Jesus is only taking His favorites... All others will have Hell to pay...
