  • This might be all fine, but why did all of the beautiful churches get destroyed? Why were all the beautiful altars ripped out? Why does the Mass have the "look and feel" of a protestant service? Why is Mass attendance hovering at around 25%? The vast majority of catholic high school kids cannot even name the seven sacraments. All of this happened since the "reforms" of Vatican II. Why???

  • references to the communal offering many of which you quoted...my sacrifice and yours...we offer unto thee o lord...etc...so more communal response...more references to a priesthood of the laity...no confusion about where the line IS to be drawn...whos RIGHT it is to distribute the Holy Eucharist..etc...i try so hard to understand the other side on this...and i cant seem to grasp anything of substance..instead i find my seminarian friends slowly siding with me...returning to the Mass of the ages

  • its presently offered destroy many of my friends faith...i wish i could see the point you were making and accept it...but i just see everywhere i turn a terrible understanding of the "tridentine" mass..in my RCIA lesson on the Mass i spoke of both forms of teh roman rite..and immeadiately received flack from other teachers about the Mass with no responses etc...in the "tridentine" mass as it is presently offerd the people respond more than they do in the novus ordo..and there are countless more

  • full and active participation is a terrible translation..the latin word means inner and spritual participation which His Holiness Pope Pius XII spoke of...the concept of active participation is no different in the so called Tridentine Mass than it is in the Novus Ordo or any Eastern Rite...the faithful are called to paricipate fully in a spiritual sense...perhaps i missed something but being 21 years old and exclusively attending the Traditional Rite since 15 as I watched the Novus Ordo the way

  • and that being said...99 percent of parishes do not offer the Mass the way the fathers of the reform intended it to be offered anyways...if it were to be offered the way the fathers of the reform intended...things that most people view as aids to active participation such as the use fo teh vernacular or the priest facing the people would rarely be seen...thankfully this is not what constutes active participation and indeed not even what the council calls for...the many translate into english as

  • question sir...i love your zeal for the faith...but i find it impossible to understand what your point was exactly about an easier to understand Mass? infact in the last minute you state "God has given us a very powerful Mass that we can understand; if its just explained to us..."

how is this any different than what was required pastorally with the Traditional Latin Mass?? (btw not simply made up in 1570...this Mass has existed for over 1500 years)...I do not reject the Novus Ordo however...
