The Feast of the Protection of the Mother of God and Ever-Virgin Mary at St. Emilian's Byzantine Catholic Church in Brunswick, Ohio.
The parishioners of St. Emilian's, their pastor, Father Marek Visnovsky, visiting priest, Father Richard Plishka, deacon student, Robert Cripps, and visiting monastics, are joined by their Bishop John Kudrick, the bishop of the Eparchy of Parma, in singing the stichera (hymns) and litanies at the Litija.
These hymns are sung in the narthex (main entrance) of the temple during vespers (evening prayer). Cantor Joe Thur and wife, JoAnn, the parish pripiv / Psalm verse cantor, lead the chanting of the hymns.
The hymns are sung according to Bolhar tones:
"The glorious feast" - Tone 3 Bolhar (Samohlasen)
"The people desire to sing to you" - Tone 4 Bolhar
"Let us assemble today" - Tone 2 Bolhar
"Having purified our minds" [Doxasticon] - Tone 2 Bolhar
