In 2004, "Karma Depth - Mark I" recorded their version of Deep Purple's "Highway Star" just for the fun of it. At some point they thought to include that song to the free "out of the attic"-promo single but eventually they didn't. So very few heard this recorded version.
Well here you have it in its total rawness!!
No overdubs, everything 100% live.
The band on this recording was:
Hans Berten: Lead Vocals & Bass
Dieter Cailliau: Keys
Lorenzo Petralia: Lead & Rhythm Guitar & 2nd voice (well it's more than just backing vocals I guess)
Hans Mahieu: Drums
Before "Karma Depth - Mark I" wrote their own progressive rocksongs, they played covers by Deep Purple, Focus, Uriah Heep, Thin Lizzy, Rush, Van Halen etc to get stage experience as a band. They kept on playing covers until they had a full set of their own songs and even then they would add an occasional coversong. Once they had a full set of KD songs their only covers were a Dream Theater medley, Dream Theater's "Erotomania" and "Waste Away" from Spock's Beard. Rarely they still played their high paced version of "Highway Star".
With "Karma Depth - Mark II" the only regular covers were a new Dream Theater medley and Transatlantic's "Duel with the Devil".
