  • An extraterrestrial Zippo Lighter as the villain?...the writers definately ran out of ideas; hilarious nevertheless.

  • @shuttlemasterbkg More than likely the producer ran out of money for a new monster costume.

  • Another example of the writers running out of ideas, and Irwin Allen running out of money. "Let's see, what can we do with a flame pot..."

  • next week the arse monster! heh heh

  • nevertheless the seaview was a beautiful design as was the flying sub.allen shoulda pumped much more money into it.it deserved a star trek budget.some great actors there too, richard basehart wotta guy.

  • @rolko52 I keep waiting for an insert shot of bridge crew sliding towards the rear hatch when she brakes the surface!!!

  • They sure used Alfred Ryder a lot. I wonder how much Irwin Allen influenced his directors to push the guest actors over the top into melodrama land. When Eddie Albert was interviewed about the pilot episode, he called Allen "crazy". What was Crane shooting at in this promo; a flame?!?

  • This is my favorite third season episode. It's so bloody awful, but incredibly watchable. I love it.

  • @rolko52: It was 60 degrees, the same as the Titanic in the 'fifties Fox version of that movie since they used the same tracked pit!

  • @ACLTony Dead on target!

  • @TooleMan87 - Guys, what happened was that the studio heads decided to change this show from Sci-Fi drama to a kids show as it was running in the same time slot as another competing kids show (I forgot which one). Sad to say, as the 1st couple of seasons had some good plots that were, generally, geared towards adults with spy missions, espionage, etc. The changes doomed the show, but the actors continued performing the best they could for the situation.
