Anti war song. Really non political look at the bad side of conflict in Afghanistan

Message for the Leaders © words and music by Doug Payne 2007 ©
Hear the dying words of a tiny child
in the land of collateral damage
It's the place they call Afghanistan
where your missiles hit the ground.

Give the children an audience
with the leaders of every land
Let them stand up in the dark war room
Let then question each command.

Hear the whispers of love in a husbands ear
as he leaves for the Middle East.
to a place that is just too dreadful to bare
and there's a thing called friendly fire.

Give the Lover an audience
with the leaders of every land.
Let her stand up in the dark war room.
She will question each command.

Feel the trembling hand
Know the mother's fear
when that message comes to the door.
Your only son died a hero mamme
but the Stars and Stripes are proud.

Give the Mother an audience
with the leaders of every land.
Let her stand up in the dark war room.
She will question each command. ©

  • As usual My Dear Friend. Absolutely awsome. As I was listening to this song I really started thinking. Why dont all of us who really like this song, send it to our senators and representatives and the Prersident. They must have somewhere that they receive E-mail. Wouldnt it be something if we grassrooted this song to them over and over. So they could see how we feel. Thank you again Doug.

    Unbelieveable words.

    GOD BLESS YOU

  • This is good in my view because it really is no political. Both sides of politics are in this and both sides of the war. Its a tough issue

  • Working on your draft now for publication. This is so moving, Doug. Thank you for your beautiful and powerful statement for peace. Liz

  • Thanks heaps Liz

  • This was just great man. The emotion that you produced in this song is amazing. Those lyrics I can't explain and your voice is incredible. I can hear the emotion when you sing which really adds to the fullness of the song.

  • Mate you are 16 and I hear this heart in your voice that is like the bloody jedi and 1000 years old. When you are 50 there will be an epic in every line you sing.

  • My heart goes out to our soldiers fighting to free the people of afghanistan from the manacles of poverty, ignorance and fear that keep them a perpetual cycle desolation. We should admire are governments for fighting in a country such as afghanistan. In a place that is poor in resources and has a lack of economic promise-- we fight to protect a population from the gloating sadists that perform acts insulting to human decency in all its forms. We fight for deliverance from theocratic fascism.

  • well written sir!

  • I pray that the leaders do head the message. we need peace!~~Paula

  • Yeah war is a terrible thing to happen in any country. Your song depicted the tragedies that wars can bring to everybody especially the children who are innocent victims of the conflict by the old generation. Thanks Doug for this song and I hope that leaders from conflicting countries will hear this song.

  • Every world leader should imagine cross-hairs on their loved ones before they don their blinders. Every accountable decision-maker on the planet should see and hear this video. War is animated greed in one fashion or another; killing is not its own decision.

    You step ever forward, Doug.

    Lee

  • Doug, that was a tough one to watch, but one that is desperately needed to find peace...this should be sent to all governments world wide. Job well done Doug. ~Canada Colleen~

  • ...Thank you

    Natasha

  • I have friends around the world, some are muslims. Not all muslims are terroists just as not all Americans are innocent. Good video, good lyrics.
