One of America's great dance champions, they burst onto the world scene in 1991 with this innovative, creative program that encapsulated a style that would characterize all their work. Masters of Argentine Tango on ice, I thought they would leap to the top of the World podium; but instead, this program marks a decade long period where American dancers would be consistently (and undeservedly IMO) held in the 5th spot.
A strikingly beautiful woman, I felt Elizabeth embodied the re-incarnated spiritual essence of Helen of Troy. I always wished they had done an artistic number to ancient Greek and Sardinian music. I believe it would have aroused the ice gods!!! Perhaps they did and I have just not seen it.
This program has been exceptionally difficult to upload. Their costumes have so many colors and textures that it takes 130mb to capture it. Hence, I had to break it off at the slow section and present it in two parts. Sorry, but this is certainly one for the record books and something every skater should have in their collective consciousness.
I notice many people are only viewing Part 1, and not seeing the exciting conclusion to this program. If you haven't seen Elizabeth Punalan flame out and crash her expensive, high performance race car you have missed one of skatings' GREAT MOMENTS!!!
