This is gameplay footage from one of the most incredible Doom modifications I've ever played in my life. Doom has been out for many years, but I think this one almost takes the cake for one of the best ever.

The original Action Doom was a modification in which the classic Doom gameplay was turned into what was essentially a first-person version of Contra with both quick kills for your enemies and quick deaths for yourself!

With Action Doom 2, it has morphed into what is essentially a very stylistic first-person beat-em-up game much like what you would find in Streets of Rage or River City Ransom.

As you will see in the video, you have limited ammo with your shooting weapons inititally, so you will be resorting to using weapons such as knives and broken bottles to attack your foes. Close combat is most prevalent and is made more exciting with "allies" which you will gain along the way. Watch as I call for help inside a phone booth and gain an ally by my side to help me fight my enemies!

The items you pick up will break very quickly so searching for new items is a must. They can be found littered throughout the levels and will be dropped by certain enemies. They do substantially more damage than your fists or even your melee attack with your pistol, so using these items is essential to winning.

I can't say much more for this game. You'll have to play it for yourself just to believe it. This is a shining example as to why the PC gaming community is one of the most special around.

The reason people hate this is because it's different. They were hoping for a sequel for action doom, and they got a "prequel" (I use that loosely because it really isn't a prequel because it has nothing to do with action doom) so they were pissed. I liked it though, call me crazy, but I liked it.

@4umeandher This was set in a time before UAC's experiment went all wrong and started spawning demons.

This mod is meant to show more insight into the character of the Doomguy. Ten years later after the events of AD2, Doomguy becomes an agent and they show UAC's mistakes as they open the teleports.

Then, at the end of AD1, Doomguy is getting transported to the moon where DooM 1 starts off... This mod is the answer to the famous question of 'who is doomguy?'.
