don't believe the horror stories, had my v8 same age over bonnet in water no probs, just water proof the coil with a rubber glove n silicone spray then put a plate on the wing to stop the fan jet washing it, oh ye important bit get the snorkel lol

Lol I would love to do that, but I don't have a snorkel yet. Plus i get nothing but horror stories about V8 petrols and water. Should be good for woodlands though.
