Nintendo Announces 2011 Nintendo Wii Slim Redesign

The new version of the Wii (Family Edition) is designed to sit more Horizontally on it's side, this was done by removing the Gamecube Controller Ports and Memory Card Slots, placing an end to Gamecube backwards compatibility. Are you considering buying this new Slim Wii? Not to mention the fact of no longer being able to use Gamecube controllers on games such as Smash Bros Brawl is a let down, looks like Nintendo is trying to leave the Gamecube out of the picture in favor of getting people to download Gamecube titles on the Wii U!! Also this bundle comes with Wii Sports and Wii Party, because I always wanted to play those anticipated titles lol

Nintendo has announced a slightly reconfigured Wii console.
According to a statement from the game company, the Wii's new look is designed to make the console sit horizontally, rather than vertically. Nintendo didn't say exactly how it accomplished the feat, but the company's decision to do so is rather surprising, since the current Wii console can be placed both vertically and horizontally, and still allow users to play games. However, Nintendo has largely promoted the current version as a console that stands vertically for those who want to save space in their entertainment centers.
Nintendo says that its new "streamlined" Wii will come in a bundle with Wii Party and Wii Sports. Consumers will also find a Wii Remote Plus and Nunchuk. The company announced the bundle in Europe today, saying it will be made available to customers on the continent in October.
In a statement to CNET, a Nintendo of America spokesperson said that the company does not currently plan to release the console in the States.

I got a blue one for Christmas. I only wanted it for Skyward Sword but I also like to play SSBB and Mario Kart. But Nintendo had to be stupid and take away the GameCube computability. I mean, I have my GC still so I could live with that, but they also took out the GC controller ports, and that, well that's just unacceptable.

@MrRKstudios in the united states? don't tell me they actually localized this in america, so did they replace all the old style wii's with this new one, because that's what they did to the normal wii remotes when the wii remote plus was released

I don't know if people realize, this just invalidated 'Dancemat' compatability. That is how they connect, in the GC port!! Wth!
