How I might have edited the trailer for Oliver Parker's production of Othello, starring Laurence Fishburne with Irene Jacob and Kenneth Branagh.

  • @lorrainewands oops, nevermind, that's not jackson. Oh good! I'll definitely be watching!

  • if it weren't samuel jackson, i'd watch it, but cannot abide the fellow!

  • isnt that morphius ?? lool

  • @mhssoftware do you know where can I take the soundtrack for free? thank you!

  • Cassio - Nathaniel Parker 1:38

  • Desdemona has such a deep voice

  • Awsome and tragic story of betrayel and lies in true Shakepearian style.

  • @BoringEnglishFlicks he chooses cassio as his 2nd in command over Iago, also he thinks Othello has slept with his wife however we never find out if this is true.

  • When Senator Barbantio calls Iago a villain, Iago replies "You are a senator" - which seems to me a statement that "villain" is just his default role, his day job, his vocation (especially in terms of the play).

  • It's actually left fairly ambiguous. Early on he claims it's for "mere suspicion" of Othello sleeping with Iago's wife, but seems a little far-fetched. He also is jealous for promotion and feels slighted by Othello. But more likely, he's just a man of devilish character Shakespeare used to drive the tragedy. The parallels with Satan are all compelling.

  • Why DID Iago hate the Moor? I have just finished reading the play, and cannot make it out?

  • watched the whole thing in world literature honors this year - LOVED it!

  • Kenneth Brannagh as Iago...too...awsome for coherent thought...

  • it's really interesting that Othello becomes a European, renouncing his former culture... even his last lines show that he attacks HIMSELF as an enemy of the state... Iago exploits the fact that his acceptance into Europe isn't quite as strong as everyone (including Othello himself) hopes.

  • @FlashingSergio

That seems troubling - he's basically Satan. :) But Branagh certainly performs the part well...

  • just read the play for english and loved it. watching this in class later this week, looks awesome! morpheus!!

  • I didn't know Othello had a "gangster walk" - 2:05

  • Great editing! I just watched Othello in my college class, and this makes it look 10x more exciting lol... but Kenneth Branagh was kick ass in so many different ways and thus makes it worth watching, despite the deviations they made from the play.

If I hadn't seen it already, this would have made up my mind to. Keep up the good work! :D

  • Saw a portion of this in English class. I would very much like to see the whole thing someday.
