@Loshia2002 MTV bowed in '81. This song is from '83. How does that math work?
-
@455Transam Actually, this falls into the New Wave/Alternative category more than it does pop or rock.
-
@Loshia2002 I don't know exactly what you mean by the record companies didn't know what to do with bands like these......it was called "New Wave" at that time and there were a LOT of bands with this kind of sound.....maybe too many?
-
@455Transam Oh they "clicked" alright, but the labels had no idea what to do with bands like this and had pretty much lost touch with what was going on at street level. Oh, btw...you see that girl in profile yapping to some guy with the band in the background? That's me. That's also my apartment building, and half the props used for the shoot were mine. Just a bit of trivia there, and yeah, it was one helluva party.

@Loshia2002 Great bands can succeed without video, for whatever reason they didn't "click" do a search for a band called THE ROCKETS great rock band from the late 70's that never became a huge hit but were local favorites in the Mid-West they're from Detroit.

@455Transam Um....the Plimsouls were before the Alarm and sad to say about a year or so before MTV. An absolutely amazing band that hit in the wrong place at the wrong time, otherwise they would've done infinitely better than they actually did....timing can be a reeeeeaal sucky thing .

Vevo is yuckie but the song is one of the best ever made,xo
-
Great flashback to a lost age--this vid kinda reminds me of the movie, "The Wild Bunch" --the abbreviated Rock and Roll version!
-
love this song, hate VEVO. When I see VEVO has taken over a tune I love, it's time to move the hell on. Your pages are a distracting mess, your vids low quality, your ads too loud, and I'm not interested in concerts in Brasil.

@KMelKang Yeah this was on the movie Valley Girl...
fuck you vevo
